IDRIS ELBA DELIVERS RAZOR SHARP CLUB RHYTHMS WITH ‘FUDGE’ FEATURING ELIZA LEGZDINA

Idris Elba graces us once more with his latest musical project – ‘Fudge’ on his London based imprint 7Wallace. Produced on set in Elba’s sun-soaked Australian trailer during filming, ‘Fudge’ quintessentially captures the heated asphalt afterglow of summer-nights with sharpened drum programming and dense vocal treatment.

Ricocheting percussive elements ladder voraciously through the energetic arrangement, the low-end thumps like an elevated heart rate pulsing in unison to the track’s tempo. “I made the song while I was filming in Sydney, multitasking baby. We sent it to Eliza and she smashed it out of the park. Ask yourself, who the Fudge ARE you”.

Hailing from Latvia, classically trained vocalist, poet, DJ and femme icon Eliza Legzdina is one of Eastern-Europe’s most exciting new propositions. A queer activist and proponent of body positivity, Eliza’s lyrics are loud in their sex positive affirmations and explore the sensuous nuances of being a powerful feminine lead, and describes her provocative imagery as scraping nails down the blackboard of the musical patriarchy.

“Just before I got an email from Idris’s team, I saw a bat flying through Shoreditch. It struck me as an omen of a rebirth which is how I see the track. Fudge is all about knowing you got it, you're hot stuff and everyone wants a piece. The feeling of seeing someone so smooth and mysterious and hypnotising. Idris is a man of so many talents, so being able to jump on this track which had such clear vision was a piece of cake and a blessing of sorts. I can’t wait to hear this on the dance floor, this ones for the club”.

Eliza Legzdina’s promiscuous lyricism pairs impeccably with the rhythmically-driven instrumental, bouncing an effervescent flow atop the bumping ensemble of kicks that stagger authoritatively through the mix. The tongue-in-cheek lyrical content grants ‘Fudge’ the bespoke Idris Elba trademark.

IDRIS ELBA AND TORONTO TALENT CONNOR PRICE COLLABORATE ON HOMAGE TO ‘COURTENEY COX’

Multifaceted producer, singer/ songwriter and DJ, Idris Elba has collaborated with some of the world’s biggest musical talent via his London imprint 7Wallace - Skepta, Little Simz, Damon Albarn’s Africa Express, Che Lingo, Q-tip, Sean-Paul, Stefflon Don – the list is extensive and impressive.

Elba’s first release of 2021 champions new and up and coming Canadian talent and hip-hop enthusiast Connor Price on their collaborative record ‘Courteney Cox’. Released by 7Wallace and Price’s Toronto based imprint, 4 Of Clubs, ‘Courteney Cox’ is high-octane and an infectiously hooky slice of synth-soaked trap – a playful and tongue-in-cheek homage to Connor’s favourite actress and childhood crush.

The collaboration came from an Instagram challenge Idris created after being diagnosed with Covid-19, where he posted a rap and left the third verse open. Connor responded with a freestyle of his own and woke up to a DM from Idris the next morning. From there Idris sent the track to Courteney Cox who wrote and recorded her own lyrics to Idris and Connor’s skit and performed it in the video – what results is a huge serving of fun, wit and humour which doesn’t take itself too seriously.

Hailing via Toronto, Connor Price started releasing music independently under his self-owned ‘4 of clubs’ brand. He began to further develop his sound and fanbase by putting out a brand new song every two weeks. His self-directed/edited video ‘Typical Rapper’ accumulated over 1 million Facebook views in the first month.

7Wallace is the record label founded by Idris Elba in 2015, with the aim of breaking boundaries in dance and hip-hop. Since then the company has expanded to include music publishing, in a joint venture with Universal Music Publishing, and has also set up studios in Central London and Oxford.
